What is your favourite piece of decor in your house? ...Well for me its the paintings, beautiful, soothing and calm.
Today, we get to chat with the super talented Yao from YaoChengDesign
The way she makes each painting, the colours she chooses...makes each one of them truly special!!
- What is your favourite part of making beautiful paintings?
Y: My favorite part of painting is knowing that I'm creating something
original. It's both a thrill and scary feeling, but I know that through
the process of putting my brush to paper, something interesting and new
will come of it. I also love being lost in the world that I'm creating, I
love watching the colors mix into each other and see the shapes
interact with one another.
- Have you always wanted to do that?
Y: Actually, yes, I have always known that being creative was something
that I was meant to do. I've been drawing and painting since I can
remember, and I have loved it with the same passion ever since! I am the
happiest when I'm painting and being creative, there's something about
communicating my ideas through visual imagery that really speaks to me.
- Which is your personal favourite design?
Y: I don't have a personal favorite of all of my work, but rather I have
favorites that change based on what I'm painting. So right now, I have
the triangles hanging in our bedroom and I love how simple it is in both shape and
color but still visually interesting. That's probably one of my
favorites right now! I also love my landscape paintings, especially the
rolling hills one.I love the movement in that one and it's one of the few paintings where it is exactly how I envisioned it in my head!
- How does your normal working day looks like?
Y:My normal work day is always different, which is one of the reasons I
love working for myself full time! Because I run my business by myself, I
wear a variety of different hats, so my days are never routined. I am,
however, working on spending a day or two more per week painting! But my
days mostly start out with filling orders and staying up to speed with
my emails. Other than that, I will be working on a few different
projects at the same time!
- What is your most memorable moment, when opening a shop on Etsy?
Y : My most memorable moment...I think probably when I received my first
order that wasn't a family member or a friend! That's when I realized
that there are people that my work speak to and who like the work that I
do.
